Why I Love What I Do: One of the reasons I practice criminal defense is to work with interesting people. Sometimes the judicial system is so formulaic—asserting that the paper version of my client is all there is to a case. Yet, I get to meet the three-dimensional person behind the criminal charges. I’ve learned nothing is simple, and little is predictable in this career. It’s always exciting, and each client, and each case, is unique.

Heather obtained her JD from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul Minnesota. She was admitted to the CA State Bar in 2012. Since admission she has focused primarily on criminal legal work but also has experience with the International Women’s Rights Project, the Tribal Law and Policy Institute, and the American Society of International Law as an International Law Fellow. Heather has had her own practice since 2018.
